Come and be a part of our successful Moot Court family!
Tryouts for the 2010-2011 season will be held in April of 2010. Hope to see you there!
Applications and tryout materials are available outside Room 431 in the 198 building. You may sign up for a tryout time only after you have returned your completed application packet to the Moot Court Department (4th Floor, Room 454).
The following must be included along with your completed evaluation:
At your tryout, you will be expected to present a five minute oral argument in front of four to five judges. This argument must be based on one of the sample briefs. Hard copies of these briefs are available outside Room 431. Review the briefs and select one that interests you. Then select a specific issue (briefs generally contain 2-3 different issues). For some topics, both respondent's and petitioner's briefs are available. Pick one side to argue.
Once you have selected an issue (and side, if needed), prepare a five minute argument. You should begin with a roadmap and be prepared to speak the entire five minutes. Once you have completed your oral presentation, there will be a short interview.
Those selected will be placed on a moot court competition team for either the fall or the spring. Team allocations are made based on the needs of the competition team. Nearly all positions involve both brief writing and oral argument, and every position will provide a rewarding and unforgettable law school experience. Hope to see you at tryouts!
